At the northern entrance to the Gastein Valley lies Dorfgastein (830 m), the smallest and most tranquil of the three valley resorts that lend this popular holiday region its unique charm. The residents maintain a lively tradition and the townscape has also retained its original village character. Nestled in the impressive Gastein mountains, Dorfgastein offers everything you could wish for an active holiday, whether it be for families with children, senior citizens, recreational athletes or professionals. The ski area with the connection to the Grossarl Valley is directly adjacent to the village and the modern gondola lift is only a few metres away from the village centre. The "Gasti" snowpark for children and the panoramic snowshoe and winter hiking trails at the summit are also worthy of special mention.

In the neighbouring resorts of Bad Hofgastein (approx. 8 km) in the centre of the valley and the main town of Bad Gastein (approx. 16 km), you will find lift access points that will also take you to the varied Gastein mountain world, as well as further leisure activities and shopping opportunities. Gastein Valley is situated in the heart of the Salzburger Land and is among the largest and loveliest ski regions in the state.
