Hochfilzen
One of the five main resorts in Pillerseetal is Hochfilzen. The cosy village with its farmsteads, pubs and the central church tower is situated amidst the Schneewinkel ski region. Its name describes the wintry conditions perfectly, as the region is blessed with a great amount of natural snow during the winter. Like this, Hochfilzen and the surrounding mountain chains are constantly covered with a thick layer of snow - much to the joy of skiers, snowboarders and cross-country skiers alike. Hochfilzen is known to be an important biathlon centre where the biathlon world cup takes place annually, and fans of Nordic skiing will find numerous kilometres of cross-country ski trails.Whether in the valley or on the mountain, all winter sports enthusiasts are surrounded by a splendid mountain panorama with the Leogand and Lofer Steinberge to Buchensteinwand in the west. The ski area of the same name is the closest to Hochfilzen and can be reached easily. - The perfect starting point for all pleasure skiers!
