Various high-altitude trails in Obertauern an on the Katschberg provide winter sports fans with wonderful views and promise diverse impressions of the surrounding mountain landscapes.
Mauterndorf itself has 21 km of trails. Beginners could check out the 3 km long "Flugplatzloipe" trail, for example. The attractive "Taurachloipe" trail between Mauterndorf and Mariapfarr requires a bit more endurance. Depending on your condition and skill, there are various connections available from there. A 12 km long trail, of which sometimes runs along a river, runs all the way to Tweng.
