Ski area Mayrhofen & Hippach
Mayrhofen, with the action-packed mountain Penken and the skiers' paradise Ahorn offer 142 km of piste, as well as 8,7 km of ski routes and have everything a winter sports fan may dream of: challenging, black pistes on the Penken, including the famous "Harakiri" with 78% descent and which also gets experts' hearts pumping, as well as wonderfully wide pistes for beginners and carvers on the Ahorn. The spectacular PenkenPark is known as an international hotspot for all freestylers
The ski tour recommendations offered by the lift company are perfect ways to explore the mountains around Mayrhofen: experienced skiers choose the Höhenmeter Fresser Circuit, during which you pass a total of 13,000 metres in altitude. Or you try the Fun&Action Circuit that doesn't only take you to Harakiri, but also to the popular PenkenPark and the race tracks in the area. Wallowers and families will appreciate the Beginner's Circuit Penken and the Family Circuit Ahorn. Pleasure carvers, beginners and families will find in Ahorn their perfect spot to ski on the broad and sunny piste. More experienced skiers will enjoy the demanding valley run.
The entire ski area is connected via 44 lift systems and 16 magic carpets, including the largest gondola in Austria, the Ahorn gondola! And with the combination lift system Penken you can even choose if you prefer the gondola or chair lift. Further there are numerous snow canons with guarantee snow coverage of 100% in the ski area.
A special highlight is the Hintertuxer glacier: It is known to be one of the best glaciers with some of the most challenging pistes in the Alps, due to its size. At 1,500 - 3,250 m altitude Austria's only whole-year ski area offers 60 km of prepared pistes, 21 modern lifts and as a highlight a 12 km long descent to the valley.
Night skiing Mayrhofen
Around Mayrhofen spreads Zillertal which is not only popular for its fantastic après ski or spectacular pistes. The bustling valley in Austria also offers its guests - and how could it be any different - night skiing opportunities, and the night ski areas in and around Mayrhofen do not only guarantee fun on the piste during night skiing. Ahorn also offers a wide range of leisure activities for non-skiers. For example a winter hike on the Ahorn panorma trail towards the FalknerOase, where the Ahorn's birds of prey have their winter home, or up to the Filzenkogel with a breathtaking view and an entry in the summit book.
For those who prefer a more cosy atmosphere, can meet nice people in one of the Café-bars or enjoy the regional specialities in one of the numerous restaurants. As an exciting alternative, you can go on a coach ride through the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region or go ice skating on the ice rink. Those looking for adventure are recommended to visit the various ice waterfalls for ice climbing or paragliding in winter, where you can enjoy a fascinating view and mountain air during a safe tandem flight.
Snowpark: PenkenPark Mayrhofen
In Mayrhofen, fun sport and creativity lovers will discover a very special highlight, which was voted best snowpark in Europe in 2010:"PenkenPark! Six perfectly shaped lines and a fantastic Crowd have given the park a reputation that it lives up to. Pro Area, Advanced Area, Advanced jib Area, Medium Area, Medium jib Area and Kids Area promise a great time on the mountain for all levels.
The entrance to the park is located at an altitude of 1,800 m between the Rastkogel and Horberg at 2,000 m. Furthermore, the park comprises its own 4-person chair lift, the "Sunjet", which operates directly above the Pro Line, so that you can observe the pros from above. Special events and contest take place here in regular intervals.
Should you want even more freestyle fun, the "Betterpark" at the Hintertux Glacier is definitely worth a visit. Both beginners and pros will get their money's worth. The Easy Line, Medium Line, Pro Line, Rail Line, and Box Line demand creativity and originality. Furthermore, there is a 100 m long super-pipe which completes the offer. On an altitude of 3,200 and located in a spacious area, the "Betterpark" invites everyone who would like to indulge in their passion in front of an impressive Alpine landscape.
The FunRide Ahorn with the FamilyPark, the AlbertAdler Tour, the FunRide Sun-Jet and the FunRide Gerent with many child-friendly obstacles, waves, steep curves and snails also offer a great variety.
