Ski area Krippenstein - Obertraun
The Freesports Arena "Dachstein-Krippenstein" ski area is located in the heart of the Salzkammergut in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut. It extends to heights of 609–2,109 metres and offers access to one of the longest valley runs in Upper Austria: With a total length of 10 kilometres and a difference in altitude of 1,500 metres, it leads from the summit down into the valley. Families, beginners and leisure skiers are particularly well catered for here.
In fact, however, the greatest adventure in the ‘Dachstein-Krippenstein’ arena takes place away from the perfectly groomed slopes. The ski area is known as a true Eldorado for freeriders and an absolute hot spot for exciting deep snow skiing. The 30 km of off-piste variants Schönberg, Angeralm, Imisl and Eisgrube promise untouched snow and a fabulous 1,500 m difference in altitude.
For children, there is a children's ski paradise next to the valley station: the Krippi Park. Here, they can practise their first turns. A practice lift and a magic carpet transport the little ones back to the top. Young freeriders can also gain their first experiences with the ski instructors in the Outdoor Leadership Adventure Park.
At 2,100 metres above sea level, the Dachstein plateau offers a diverse winter paradise: marked snowshoe and winter hiking trails lead to highlights such as the 5fingers, the World Heritage Spiral and the Dachstein Shark, while ski tourers will find what they are looking for on the new Heilbronner Runde and classics such as the Rumpler or the Dachstein Crossing. The offer is complemented by guided tours, camps and outdoor experiences such as paragliding.
