Ski area Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000

With the "Zillertaler Superskipass" you can choose from 542 kilometres of piste in the Zillertal Arena, by the Mayrhofen lifts, in the Ski and Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000, in the ski area Hochzillertal – Hochfügen – Spieljoch, as well as the Wildkogel-Arena at Bramberg. The ski areas are all excellently linked to one another by a free train and bus shuttle (see ski region). Since a few years, the Zillertal Arena offers free-of-charge Wi-Fi in all of its ski areas! In other words, not only can you enjoy the white bliss and the sun, but also share your latest experiences and highlights directly with your loved ones at home.

The "Ski- und Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000" ski and glacier world combines the ski areas around Ahorn, Penken, Rastkogel, Eggalm and the Hintertuxer Gletscher. The entire area offers 202 km of piste and has 65 lifts between 630 - 3,250 m.

With the "Hintertuxer Gletscher" lift pass, you can ski along 60 km of piste. The Hintertux Glacier is even especially snow-sure in summer and offers varied runs. Whether you take on the long run from the Gefrorene Wand (frozen wall), test the buckle pistes at Olperer or prefer to enjoy the deep snow area at Kaserer, there is no lack of options! A further highlight is the "Gletscherrunde", where you can conquer 15,000 meters in altitude and 60 km of runs. Please note that for bookings for the low season (October - November) only the "Hintertuxer Gletscher" lift pass is included.

The pistes at Eggalm offer a beautiful view of the Tux Valley and the Penken and Horberg ski area is also reachable over the Rastkogel, whose lifts have recently started providing weather covers and seat warmers. In addition to the legendary Harakiri piste, you will also find the first-rate "Penken Funpark".

Without direct connection to Tux, only reachable over Mayrhofen, a small but fine beginner's area with Austria's largest pendulum cableway awaits you at the Ahorn.

The ski area Tux/Hintertux Glacier was voted the best ski area 2014 in the category "Guaranteed Snow". The glacier ski area offers winter sports fun on 365 days a year.

The 10 person lift Finkenberg I, has been in service since the 2017/18 winter season. It has replaced the 4 person cabin lift at the valley station in Finkenberg, and it has been transporting 2,400 people per hour in its 56 cabins from the valley to the mountain. Factors such as shorter transportation times, heated seats and Wi-Fi help give passengers a comfortable experience.

Night skiing Tux

Surrounding the resort Tux in the ski area Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000 you cannot only turn night into day during après ski. On many of the nearby pistes skiers can go night skiing, and enjoy a very special atmosphere on Ziller Valley's illuminated pistes. The region's night skiing areas have come up with many ideas, such as e.g. acrobatic performances and light shows. In Hochzillertal, there are a total of 5 km of perfectly prepared night skiing pistes. Like this, winter sports enthusiasts in beautiful Austria will not only get their money's worth during the day, but can also indulge in skiing until late at night.

Après ski Tux

The après-ski offer at the Hintertux Glacier is extensive: The Hohenhaus-Tenne Hintertux at the valley station invites you to the first drink early on. Afterwards, several discos and bars entice you to party until the early hours. Famous pop stars regularly perform at the "Tux1" party series at the "Papperla Pub" in Hintertux, ensuring that the audience is as numerous as they are eager to party. The so-called "Nightliner", a bus connection (from 18:30 to 02:30 am) between Finkenberg and Hintertux for all party guests (for a fee), ensures your safe journey between the party artists.

There is also plenty of choice when it comes to leisure activities in Tux. A brisk toboggan run awaits you on the 3 km long toboggan run at the Bichlalm - optionally with a subsequent evening in a mountain hut. Even more tobogganing fun awaits you on two illuminated toboggan runs in Lanersbach and Juns. Several easy hiking routes also start in Hintertux, including the toboggan run at the Bichlalm or along the Tux cross-country ski trail. Ice skating and curling are possible on the natural ice rink in Tux, which is also illuminated in the evening. The restaurants and pubs in the village provide a cosy stop, some with the possibility to play darts, billiards or table football.

Unique mountain experiences await you high up on the Hintertux Glacier. Take the Funitel "Gletscherbus 3" up to the panorama terrace at 3,250 m and enjoy the fabulous view from the Gefrorene Wand mountain station of the Großglockner, over the Dolomites in South Tyrol to the Zugspitze. Or descend into the Spannagel Cave, one of the most important caves in Tyrol, which has a shaft length of 10 km and a depth of up to 25 metres. If you want to travel a little further, we recommend a ride on the nostalgic Zillertal Railway through the snow-covered winter landscape. The nearest train station is in Mayrhofen, about 13 km from Tux.

Snowpark: Snowpark Betterpark & Van Penken Park Tux

On the Hintertux glacier there are two fun parks that open one after the other, so that park fans can find a playground in the snow all year round. The Betterpark (snow park) on the Olperer (3,476 m) is open from April to July and from September to December. The fine fun park at 3,200 m can be reached via the Olperer T-bar lift and is one of the highest and most snow-sure parks in the Alpine region. Freestylers can expect great jumps and a constantly changing jib setup here. In addition, the Betterpark is the first snowpark in Europe to open at the beginning of October with a big opening event. This location simply makes every freestyle heart beat faster.

The Familypark (Funslope) on the Sommerberg promises fun for young and old. The park is open from December to April and thus replaces the Betterpark over the winter months. Here, at an altitude of 2,100 m, you ride through sweeping steep curves, over obstacles and wave tracks as well as through two giant snails. For the adventurous descent, there are different variants to try out. The 4-seater Tuxerjoch chairlift quickly brings you back to the funslope start! For the youngest there is also the Kid's Slope and the Flea Park on the "Schwarze Pfanne" valley run.

In Mayrhofen, fun sport and creativity lovers will discover a very special highlight: the "Vans Penken Park", which was voted best snowpark in Europe in 2010! The park is divided into four different areas. Here you can use the Fun Area, the Medium Area, the Advanced Area or the Pr Area for practising on your skills. This is even a great place to practise for the youngest freestyle beginners. In the KIDS park there are kickers and butter boxes just waiting to be discovered. For all bigger freestylers, there are boxes, kickers, rails, tubes, jibs, butter boxes and 2 specials - an end section and a multi-jib "Beastbox" in the Pro Area.

The entrance to the park is located at an altitude of 1,800 m between the Rastkogel and Horberg at 2,000 m. Furthermore, the park comprises its own 4-person chair lift, the "Sunjet", which operates directly above the Pro Line, so that you can observe the pros from above. Special events and contest offering a great time for freestylers, skiers, and winter sports fans, take place in regular intervals.
