The longest and also the most challenging track is the Kaiserwinkl trail. This round course connects the holiday resorts Kössen, Walchsee and Schwendt on a length of 23 km. It is quieter on the valley trails in e.g. Schwendt and Walchsee, which are between 2 and 3 km long. On a length of 5.5 to 9 km the Hochau trail in Kössen offers an intermediate level for everyone with a little experience in cross-country skiing and fitness. More marvellous trails in the region are the Griesenau trail nearby Schwendt, the lake trail around lake Walchsee (8 km) or the 13 km long Miesberg trail. In and around Walchsee, a total of more than 70 kilometres of trail wait for the fans of Nordic skiing.
The "Koasalauf" (Tyrolean: Emperor run) takes place every February (07 - 08/02/2015) and is a true highlight, with approx. 2,000 cross-country skiers taking place every year.
The trail network in the region of Kaiserwinkl has been awarded the cross-country trail seal of quality.
