Ski holidays Windischgarsten – holiday idyll in between tradition and modernity!
Windischgarsten
The local community Windischgarsten is located centrally in the spa resort region of Pyhrn-Priel, picturesquely surrounded by the Sengsen mountains, the Tote Gebirge (dead mountains) and the Haller Mauern. The village, with its approx. 2,400 inhabitants, has a pretty historic centre and many historically protected buildings, churches and decorated chapels. Boutique shops, cosy cafés, a modern culture centre and of course the locals give this resort a very special atmosphere. From Windischgarsten it is not far to the Limestone Alps national park, which offers a number of hiking trails, ski areas and cross-country trails. Here, you can be sure to find the full range of winter sports on offer: from tobogganing, via curling, right up to snowshoe hiking. Thanks to the beneficial location in the north-south axis through the Alps, the region is easily accessible via the Pyhrn autobahn.Pyhrn-Priel
This beautiful holiday region in the southern part of Upper Austria, stretches across vast Alpine meadows and hills up to 2,000 m altitude, right up into the national park of the Limestone Alps - one of the largest forested areas in Austria. From the mountain peaks to the valley basins, which are formed by picturesque streams and rivers, Pyhrn-Priel turns into a glittery fairytale landscape in winter. The natural diversity of the region entices nature lovers and activity seekers alike, and hence forms the perfect place to practice winter sports. Day-tours can easily be realised from the centrally located resorts Windischgarsten and Hinterstoder. Two attractive family ski areas, approx. 100 km of winter hiking trails, over 120 km of cross-country trails and magnificent views over the surrounding peaks of the Sengsen mountains and the Tote Gebirge (dead mountains) make this the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday.Travel Windischgarsten
