Ski holidays St. Colomban des Villards - soak up the sun in the heart of the Savoy Alps!
St. Colomban des Villards
Travelling to St. Colomban des Villards, anyone is immediately struck by the intimate charm of the little village at an altitude of 1,100 metres. The community in the Vallée des Villards has just 132 inhabitants, all of whom are extremely proud of the traditions of their homeland. After all, the history of the village goes back to Roman times. Especially in the centre, the history is reflected by the old houses made of wood and stone, which are typical for the region, as well as numerous small chapels and the two churches Saint-Colomban and Saint-Alban.The majority of the locals in St. Colomban des Villards have lived from skiing itself since the end of the 1950s. The first lifts were built here on the outskirts of the village before the first ski holidaymakers were welcomed a short time later. By merging with five neighbouring ski areas to form the giant ski area Les Sybelles in 2003, the idyllic Villards valley also became increasingly popular with guests. In combination with a modern, touristic infrastructure, however, the community continues to be characterised by its secluded and quiet location to this day.
Les Sybelles
The sunny ski region Les Sybelles in the heart of the Savoyard Alps comprises six different resorts and various tiny villages. Located at the Col de la Croix Fer (2,067 m) a steadily growing winter sports centre is attracting more and more customers and is already one of the largest ski regions in France. Be it an idyllic mountain village or a modern ski resort - in Les Sybelles there is place for everyone. A diverse offer for families with child care service and entertaining programme are the features which brought parts of the region the "Familie Plus" Award. But also aside from the piste the region has many diverse offers: besides a large network of winter hiking trails and cross-country tracks, the mountains can also be explored with a dog sledge or on show shoes. Furthermore, there are various huts and restaurants which offer many tasty, typically Savoyard specialities to indulge in.Travel St. Colomban des Villards
