Ski area Merano 2000

On the sunny side of the Alps, "Merano 2000" offers a compact ski area with around 40 km of pistes. The mostly easy to intermediate slopes extend from Falzeben (1,680 metres) up to the summit of the Kesselberg at 2,350 metres. The 3.5 km long piste from Piffing to Falzeben is floodlit once a week and guarantees fun in the snow until late in the evening.

Merano 2000 offers children a "Specialised Children's Ski School Südtriol" ski school and a ski kindergarten, where even the youngest children are taught to ski by trained ski instructors at the baby lift. The ski area is also very family-friendly with "Luckis Kinderland", located directly at the top station of the cable car. Here, the little ones can try their hand at three magic carpets and wide, flat pistes, while parents can relax and watch the action on the terrace of the Panorama Bistro.

Leisurely skiers particularly appreciate the Kesselberg and Rotwand pistes, while experienced skiers and snowboarders can let off steam on the Mittager piste. Freestylers will find a snow park on the Wallpach piste. Ski tourers will also find an ideal area above Hafling - with both marked and open pistes, challenging ascents and enjoyable descents, while the cosy huts scattered throughout the ski area provide excellent South Tyrolean specialities and hearty snacks. Several floodlit pistes and huts are also open until late in the evening and invite you to linger and ski at night.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.

Après ski Avelengo

In the Merano 2000 ski area, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy a nightcap in rustic huts at the end of the day's skiing. Otherwise, away from the slopes, Hafling offers a cosy and enjoyable atmosphere in traditional inns. Active holidaymakers will also find plenty of leisure activities, as the activities on offer in the small village are by no means limited to fun on the slopes.

Winter and snowshoe hikers can also enjoy the wonderful views from the high plateau. For those who like it faster, there is not only a 3 km long natural toboggan run, but also a rail toboggan run. The Alpine Bob is the only toboggan run of its kind that is open all year round and runs for 1.1 kilometres. Tobogganists can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h.

Snowpark: Snowpark Avelengo
