Ski holidays Naturno - sun-kissed mountain village in the Vinschgau Valley!
Naturno
Naturno lies at an altitude of 528 m and about 13 km west of the spa town of Merano in the beautiful Vinschgau Valley. A sunny holiday with glistening snow awaits guests here in winter, as the sun shines from the blue sky for a whole 315 days a year. The villages of Tschirland, Tabland and Staben are spread over the gentle slopes of the Sonnenberg and Nörderberg mountains. The townscape of the main village of Naturno is characterised by historical buildings, among which the church of St. Proculus stands out in particular. It houses the oldest early medieval frescoes in the German-speaking cultural area. The landmark of the village, however, is Hochnaturns Castle, which towers above on the Sonnenberg. The historical backdrop impressively underscores the Christian and traditional culture of the region. During the Christmas season, around 40 wayside nativity scenes are set up in all parts of the village.Surrounded by the majestic 3,000-metre peaks of the Texel Group, the lively mountain village is a great starting point for winter activities of all kinds in the Texel Group Nature Park. Not far from Naturns, for example, is the Schnals Valley Glacier, where the famous Ötzi was once discovered in the glacier ice. From Naturno, in good weather, you have an unobstructed view all the way to the place where the famous Iceman was found.
Recreation on all levels is written in capital letters in Naturns. Holistic health through conscious nutrition and fitness is a defining theme and thanks to corresponding offers, Naturno is the only certified Alpine wellness resort in South Tyrol. Families, those seeking peace and quiet and active winter sports enthusiasts all enjoy themselves in Naturno.
Val Senales
The 22 km long valley of Val Senales is the one most supported by tourism in the South Tyrol Vinschgau. Especially mentionable is the diverse scenery which can be found on such a small area - from the vineyards at the valley entrance right up to the sparkling ice at the glacier at the back end of the valley. The Schnalser Bach runs along the valley floor, which is used a water reservoir at the upper end of the valley, caused by the Vernagt dam. The region is not only known for its glacier ski area with its 27.5 km of piste. It also gained a lot of attention, caused by a German couple who were hiking in the upper end of the valley, at the Tisenjoch, where they found the ice mummy Ötzi, back in September 1991. The archaeological activity museum "ArcheoParc Schnals" therefore has dedicated itself to research and information on the life and surroundings of the "man from the ice".Travel Naturno
