Information on cross-country skiing
36 km Cross-country trails (in km):
The Pohorje mountains, with their ancient forests and vast high plateaus offers perfect conditions for cross-country skiers, with diverse terrain. All around the World Cup venue Maribor there are approx. 36 km of prepared trails. On 5 runs between 1.3 km and 6 km length, all of varying difficulty, beginners and pros alike can look out the most suitable for themselves.
Further 4 km of trails run through the forest at Zgornja Ložnica, located approx. 30 km south of Maribor. Forest trails and tranquillity of the wintry forest dominate the atmosphere here.
Approx. 50 km west of Maribor lies Kope, the highest part of the Pohorje mountains, right at the peak of the Črni Vrh (1,543 m, Germ. "Schwarzkogel"). Another 15 km of trails await you here, also including skating trails, a wonderful panorama high-altitude trail and a dog trail.
