Ski area Damüls-Mellau
In the Alpine section of Bregenzerwald lies the Damüls-Mellau ski area, of which, through the Mittagsspitze (2,095 m) is separated. On one side, the former World Cup location of Mellau is found, and on the other side, the tranquil Walser mountain village of Damüls. The ski areas are connected to each other through a list system. With approx. 88 km of piste (including ski routes) - connected by 19 lift systems- you can experience a ski area that is designed not just for leisure skiing, but also for sporty challenges (e.g. on the Hasenhühel chair lift).
The child-safe, 8-seater chair lift is constructed with a covering hood and seat warmers. Additionally, in the 14/15 winter season, Damüls received, along with the Sunnegg lift, a modern 6-person chair lift with child-safety and heated seats. Moreover, in the 2015/2016 winter season, a new lift in Mellau replaced the previous chair lift. The Mellau lift transports you over a distance of approx. 2 km to the ski area in a panorama 10-person gondola.
On the northern slopes of the Sunnegg lifts, as well as on Sutti's steep slopes, you'll find the snow quite crunchy. Show what you've got, and afterwards, enjoy some wide pistes- or take a chance and ride down the longest run available, with 8 km length, into the valley of Mellau.
Snowboarders have an immense selection of wide runs to choose from, and freeriders can find many ideal terrains with intact, potential powder snow slopes. For the freestyle-group, the Burton Snowpark is available to check out- a real "playground".
Night skiing Damüls
Night skiing in central Vorarlberg mainly takes place in the ski area Faschina-Fontanella, which is approx. 3 km from Damüls. The Gugernülli lift at the edge of Faschina (1,486 m) has extended operation times for skiing fun at night time all winter - from December to March, night-time skiing fun is available for young and old every Thursday from 18:00 - 21:00. All owners of a valid lift pass can use the floodlit piste for free. Atmospheric music is also played on the illuminated piste, which makes night skiing especially cosy. From Damüls, Mellau and Au the night ski piste is easily reached with the ski bus (possibly for a fee).Après ski Damüls
Whoever prefers to spend a little time breathing in the fresh air can take on one of the winter hiking trails, of which run through gorgeous winter landscapes. A total of 22.5 km of cleared trails are waiting to be exploree. Or take a chance and dare to speed down the 3.5 km long Uga natural toboggan run, which is also illuminated in the evenings.
Snowpark: Burton Snowpark Damüls
In connection with the Mellau ski area, the largest area in Bregenzerwald, Damüls has established the slogan "the most snow-reliable village worldwide". So, what comes to mind when you love freestyle but also enjoy gliding through deep snow? Exactly- this area is definitely not to be looked past! Safe, powder snow slopes and various runs lets the heart of every deep-snow-lover run wild, and tempts the members of the boarder scene to the surrounding areal.
However, those of you who love height just as much as deep snow will definitely feel right at home in the "Burton Snowpark Damüls", where you can further work on your skills. With experienced crew members constantly monitoring the area, as well as the consistent Freestyle Paradise atmosphere, the snow park impresses with its diverse obstacles and sunny location, in close proximity to the Walisgaden lift. Rails, boxes, kickers, picnic tables, and a quarter pipe are all here for your enjoyment. At the same time, the Chill-out-Area provides for great music and a relaxing atmosphere.
Since the 14/15 winter season, the Small Park, found next to the Uga mountain station, expands the Main Park. You can come let off steam on one of the 3 kicker lines, one of the 3 jib-tubes lines, on banks, and on waves. Of course, both parks are connected to each other and even form the new "All Mountain Line" from the Uga mountain station down to the Walisgaden valley station. Still think you can resist all of this?
