Ski area 3 Zinnen Dolomites - Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass

The "3 Zinnen Dolomites" lift pass opens up around 115 kilometres of piste. The 3 Zinnen Dolomites region stretches between Sexten, Innichen, Toblach, Niederdorf and Prags and includes several smaller, cosy ski areas with an impressive variety. Gentle slopes offer ideal conditions for families and beginners, while varied descents are suitable for connoisseurs and advanced skiers alike. Demanding pistes such as Raut and the famous Holzriese challenge even experts - the latter is one of the steepest pistes in Italy with a decline of 71%.

The Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass ski area offers the largest range of descents with around 86 kilometres of piste. Particularly sporty challenges await below the imposing Croda Rossa/Rotwandspitze, while the Croda Rossa/Rotwandwiesen also boasts a race course with timekeeping. During certain times of the season, you can start your day from 7.30 am on perfectly groomed pistes.

Another highlight of the ski area is the Reinhold Messner House. An exhibition of the mountaineering legend, which is a unique place where every detail tells the story, experience and vision of a true legend of alpinism.

Smaller, manageable ski areas such as the Haunold near San Candido or the pistes near Dobbiaco complement the offer with cosy descents. The local ski area of San Candido offers around 12.6 km of pistes in all levels of difficulty. Thanks to its manageable size, the family-friendly descent to the valley and the possibility of night skiing, it is particularly suitable for families and connoisseurs.

The Rienz - Toblach (Dobbiaco) local ski area has a total of 3.9 km of pistes at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,410 metres. The small ski areas of Braies and Padola - Ski Area Comelico are also part of the network.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To use the ski areas, you must have valid liability insurance that covers damage or injury to third parties. This can also be taken out on site for individual days. Skiing while intoxicated (0.5 per mille or higher BAC) is prohibited and is punishable by heavy fines. To reduce the risk of injury, wearing a helmet is compulsory for everyone (regardless of age, on all ski runs, in snow parks and on toboggan runs). Anyone who does not comply with the helmet requirement will be fined or banned from the slopes.

Night skiing 3 Zinnen Dolomites - Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass

There are some ski areas in Italy where some of the pistes are floodlit for night skiing. This allows winter sports enthusiasts to enjoy skiing in the evening. The 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski area is one such night ski area where you can ski at night. In San Candido, the piste on Monte Baranci is open for night skiing every Tuesday and Friday. Night skiers can make a few night-time turns on around 3 kilometres of piste between 7pm and 10pm. Night tobogganing is also possible on the Haunold. If you need a little refreshment after night skiing, you can stop off at the Riese-Haunold-Hütte for a meal with regional specialities and drinks.

Après ski 3 Zinnen Dolomites - Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass

After skiing, things are rather quiet in the family ski area. Nevertheless, you can of course end the day in a cosy atmosphere in the rustic huts or typical restaurants and cafés. For those who still want to be active after skiing, there are various ice skating rinks and toboggan runs in the area.

The winter hiking trails are a little quieter, from where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Dolomites in peace. Another option is snowshoeing, which you can also experience as a guided tour. A horse-drawn sleigh ride, on the other hand, is more cosy

Snowpark 3 Zinnen Dolomites - Helm/Stiergarten/Rotwand/Kreuzbergpass: Family Fun Slopes

In the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski area, there are so-called Family Fun Slopes on the Croda Rossa and Monte Elmo mountains, which combine elements of a snowpark with a family-friendly character.

These fun slopes focus on variety: banked turns, waves, snow tunnels, bridges and a spiral "snail" provide fun, games and small challenges - ideal for families and recreational skiers who already have some experience but are not looking for big freestyle features such as half-pipes or large kickers.

There are also additional facilities in neighbouring areas: there is a kids' ski cross course in the neighbouring Haunold area and the Shaka Snowpark in Rienz - although the two facilities are not directly connected via the pistes.
