Ski holidays Engelberg - piste paradise!
Engelberg
Engelberg is located in the upper Swiss Alps at an altitude of approx. 1,015 m. The former monastery village has, over time, developed into a very popular winter sports destination, boasting perfect piste conditions. The Titlis, also known as “Mountain of Superlatives”, with its altitude of approx. 3,020 m, is popular among skiers and snowboards. The town's look is especially influenced by the monastery buildings as well as its art nouveau-styled hotels. After an unforgettable day on the pistes, guests can enjoy everything from the local cuisine to chic culinary treats.Engelberg has also been awarded the "Family Destination" seal of excellence from the Swiss Tourism Agency for its especially family-friendly holiday destinations. Sports fans will enjoy the diverse sports activities in addition to fun on the pistes. In winter 2012/13 Europe's highest located hanging bridge will opened. Experience the 100 m long and spectacular bridge construction from the mountain station at over 3,000 m altitude (access is weather dependent). The bridge is one metre wide, and hangs freely and offers an adventurous view down the 500 m deep gorge down the Titlis southern wall.
Engelberg Valley
Engelberg Valley is located in Canton Obwalden, which runs from Engelberg all the way to Stanser Boden. The region caters to tourists and above all attracts a large crowd of winter sports lovers in the winter season; the Titlis ski area is among the most popular. Plenty of small and large cable cars will bring paragliders and hang gliders out on nice weather days to the starting points high over the valley. Thanks to its central location, as well as its interesting topography, the valley has much to offer to those who are interested in flying as well as for all winter sports fans.Travel Engelberg
